Past weekends

So here is an update of the past few weekends with Nathanial. Two Sundays ago we went to Newport and enjoyed the seafood festival. The weather was a little chilly, around 45 with wind gusts of up to 20mph, but the food was great. We started with some salt baked squid, that was ok. Nathanial thought it was a little TOO salty, but the dip was nice. Nikki and Nathanial followed that with some clam chowder and lobster mac & cheese, I then picked up some oysters on the half shell and steamed clams, Nathanial helped me with them. After the food we walked around and visited a seafood wholesaler, lobster for $7 per pound woohoo, and then toured a small sailboat that does tours in the summer. Nikki took some pictures of the drive home.

Last Sunday we went apple picking in Middleton, RI which is near Newport. It was a much nicer day with temps in the 60's and bright sunshine. The orchard, rocky brook orchard has about 40 varieties of apples of which 10-15 varieties were left to be picked. We got some red delicious, cortland, yellow delicious, cameo, fuji, honeycrisp, macoun, mutsu, rome, nittany, and some mystery apples. The orchard owners weren't sure which apples were on those trees. We also picked some Quince which are something new for Nikki to play with. Nathanial had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. Because he had plans for Halloween at his Mom's house, he wants to trick or treat there and also pop out of a box on the porch scaring people, he will be back here the weekend of the 15th. Here are some pictures of the fun.
