New england snow storm 08

so here are some pictures from the snow storm we had last night. I have never seen so much snow fall in such a short amount of time. It started about 1pm. When I went out side between 6 and 7 there was 7 inches of snow. It was so amazing and it was still snowing. I imagine we have a foot out there now. I figured I would just share my pictures and a few details on it. I know they are getting snow in Washington right now too. So I feel your pain. We aren't suppose to get to much today but sunday we are suppose to get another dump of snow. I guess we will see what happens. :)

Our First Snow Fall

Thought we would share our first snow fall with everyone. I know not everyone will get snow this soon. But apparently in New England this is normal. It's not a lot of snow but I figured since it was our first since we've been here it was important to record it.

Saturday, November 22, 2008

So today I decided to go out and take some picture of our new surroundings since Ann and Alan are the only ones who have come out to visit us so far. I really hope you enjoy the pictures. I plan on taking some more tomorrow. Just didn't get motivated until late today and have some other things to get done this weekend. So here are the pictures of Central Falls, RI.

Past weekends

So here is an update of the past few weekends with Nathanial. Two Sundays ago we went to Newport and enjoyed the seafood festival. The weather was a little chilly, around 45 with wind gusts of up to 20mph, but the food was great. We started with some salt baked squid, that was ok. Nathanial thought it was a little TOO salty, but the dip was nice. Nikki and Nathanial followed that with some clam chowder and lobster mac & cheese, I then picked up some oysters on the half shell and steamed clams, Nathanial helped me with them. After the food we walked around and visited a seafood wholesaler, lobster for $7 per pound woohoo, and then toured a small sailboat that does tours in the summer. Nikki took some pictures of the drive home.

Last Sunday we went apple picking in Middleton, RI which is near Newport. It was a much nicer day with temps in the 60's and bright sunshine. The orchard, rocky brook orchard has about 40 varieties of apples of which 10-15 varieties were left to be picked. We got some red delicious, cortland, yellow delicious, cameo, fuji, honeycrisp, macoun, mutsu, rome, nittany, and some mystery apples. The orchard owners weren't sure which apples were on those trees. We also picked some Quince which are something new for Nikki to play with. Nathanial had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. Because he had plans for Halloween at his Mom's house, he wants to trick or treat there and also pop out of a box on the porch scaring people, he will be back here the weekend of the 15th. Here are some pictures of the fun.

Air Show

Nathanial and I (Ken for once) tried to catch the Great New England Air Show on Sunday after we dropped Nikki off to get the rental car for this week and was able to catch about 2 hours of it from the lawn of a McDonalds in Chicopee. We had a blast watching some of the Army parachutists, a stunt plane and the Air Force Thunderbirds. Nathanial took some pictures and a couple videos that I will include. After we got done there we had dinner at Friendly's and then I dropped him off at his Mom's house.
